Kundenspezifische Integrationen
Very often, clients ask Ito to design and manufacture portions of a production line, and when we get into detailed discussions it becomes clear that the entire line can be optimized around total cost if automation is added before and/or after our portion. This leads to discussions on whether we can assist in integrating our equipment with existing equipment already in the factory, or to produce a complete integrated line rather than just one or two pieces.
We can, and we do. These custom integrations can be small integrations using a “back box’ tester developed by the client that we integrate into an automated testing machine, or large integrations where complex nanoscale structures are built inside a designed-from-scratch cluster tool.
The key to successful integrations is, we find, humility. We know a lot about precision machining, motion control, optics, and assembly processes. We don’t know everything, however, and a good example is that cluster tool mentioned above. The project was hugely successful, but it was successful because we were open about what we could and could not do, and we worked with our client and partners to bring in the expertise that was required. The result was a machine that exceeded specifications and helped move a novel product from the lab to mass production.
This is the essence of Ito Group’s capability as a platform for technology development. We’re close to 75 years old, and the relationships we have developed across Asia, North America, and Europe enable us to bring in truly diverse experts when required, both to learn from and to directly contract out work. We know what we are good at and what we are not, and we don’t try to blur those lines.
We stay humble. We stay focused. And we follow our motto: Do it. Do it right. Do it right now. If we can’t help, we’ll tell you, and we will likely direct you to someone who can, because while our motto is “Do it. Do it right. Do it right now.”, our mission is to make our clients more operationally efficient, and the mission is everything.
